Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits and Filling

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 8 slices deli roast beef
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Butter Glaze

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the biscuits.
  2. Prepare Biscuits: Separate the biscuit dough into 8 individual biscuits and flatten each slightly with your hands to make room for the filling.
  3. Add Filling: Place one slice of roast beef and one slice of provolone cheese onto each flattened biscuit.
  4. Seal Biscuits: Fold the edges of the biscuit dough over the filling and pinch the seams to seal, forming a filled dough ball.
  5. Arrange for Baking: Place the filled biscuits seam-side down in a greased baking dish to prevent sticking.
  6. Make Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  7. Brush Biscuits: Generously brush the butter mixture over the tops of the sealed biscuits to add flavor and promote browning.
  8. Bake Biscuits: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked.
  9. Heat Broth: While biscuits bake, warm the beef broth in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling, for dipping.
  10. Serve: Serve the baked French Dip Biscuits warm with the heated beef broth on the side for dipping enjoyment.

Notes

  • Make sure to pinch the biscuit edges well to prevent filling from leaking out during baking.
  • You can use other types of cheese like Swiss or cheddar for variation.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding caramelized onions inside the biscuits before sealing.
  • Beef broth can be substituted with au jus or a mixture of beef base and water for a richer dip.
  • Serve immediately for best texture; leftovers can be reheated but may lose some flakiness.
