Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer
- 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients required on the box, usually eggs, oil, and water)
Cheesecake Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon flour
Topping
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Brownie Base: Follow the instructions on the brownie mix box, typically combining the brownie mix with eggs, oil, and water. Pour the prepared brownie batter into the greased baking pan and spread evenly to form the base layer.
- Make Cheesecake Mixture: In a separate mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and flour; then continue to beat until the mixture is creamy and free of lumps.
- Create Swirl Effect: Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter layer in the pan. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the cheesecake layer into the brownie layer to create a marbled pattern.
- Bake Layers: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
- Cool Completely: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cheesecake to cool completely at room temperature in the pan, which helps set the layers properly.
- Add Caramel Topping and Chill: Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the top of the cooled cheesecake. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours, or until well chilled and firm, before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing and smooth texture.
- Use a toothpick to check doneness; a few moist crumbs are okay, but it shouldn’t be wet.
- For best flavor, use quality caramel sauce or make homemade caramel sauce.
- You can add a pinch of salt in the caramel to balance sweetness if desired.
- Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
