Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes
- 2 lbs baby potatoes
Seasonings
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Optional Garnish
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Wash Potatoes: Wash the baby potatoes thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Boil Potatoes: Place the potatoes in a large pot of salted water and boil until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well and allow to cool slightly to handle.
- Smash Potatoes: Arrange the boiled potatoes on a lined baking sheet and gently smash each one using a potato masher or the bottom of a glass until flattened but still intact.
- Season Potatoes: Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the smashed potatoes. Sprinkle with garlic powder, sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Toss gently to ensure each potato is well coated with the seasoning.
- Air Fry Potatoes: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the smashed potatoes in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
- Serve: Remove from the air fryer and garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Boil the potatoes evenly by choosing similar-sized baby potatoes for even cooking.
- Adjust garlic powder and salt levels according to taste preferences.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the smashed potatoes in the oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway for crispness.
- For extra crispiness, spray the potatoes lightly with cooking spray before air frying.
- Fresh herbs like parsley, thyme, or rosemary add a lovely fresh flavor as garnish.
