Description

This Easy Baked Salmon with Honey Soy Glaze is a quick and healthy dinner option, featuring tender salmon fillets baked to perfection with a deliciously sweet and savory honey soy glaze. Perfect for weeknights or special occasions, this recipe is simple to prepare yet full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets, 6 ounces each, skin on

Honey Soy Glaze

  • 1 ½ tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Bring Salmon to Room Temperature: Remove the salmon fillets from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature while you prepare the glaze and preheat the oven. This helps ensure even cooking throughout the fillets.
  2. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent the salmon from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  3. Make the Honey Soy Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic. Stir until the glaze is smooth and fully combined, offering a balanced sweet and savory flavor.
  4. Apply Initial Glaze and Arrange Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the prepared baking dish. Reserve half of the glaze in a clean bowl, then brush or spoon the remaining half evenly over the top of the fillets to coat them well.
  5. Bake and Glaze: Bake the salmon for 12 minutes. Then, brush the fillets with the remaining glaze. Continue baking for an additional 2 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets and your preferred level of doneness. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork or reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) as recommended by the FDA. Some prefer it cooked to 125-130°F followed by a 3-minute rest for optimal juiciness.

Notes

  • Letting the salmon come to room temperature before cooking helps it cook evenly.
  • Using low sodium soy sauce keeps the recipe lower in salt without sacrificing flavor.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the salmon fillets; thicker pieces may need closer to the full 20 minutes.
  • For safety, ensure salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F; however, some prefer a slightly lower temperature for a tender, moist interior.
  • Leftover salmon with glaze can be refrigerated and eaten within 2 days.
