Description

Juicy and buttery shrimp skewers infused with bold garlic and a crispy Parmesan crust, ready in about 20 minutes. Perfect for grilling season or quick oven broiling, these Garlic Parmesan Shrimp Skewers offer a delicious, flavorful seafood option that pairs well with pasta, salads, or grilled vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Skewers

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled & deveined (tails on optional)
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Garlic Butter Mixture

  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (smoked if desired)
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Toppings & Garnish

  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prep Skewers and Shrimp: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 15 minutes to prevent burning. Pat the shrimp dry thoroughly to ensure they char properly instead of steaming during cooking.
  2. Make Garlic Butter: In a bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, and optional red pepper flakes. Mix well to create a flavorful garlic butter sauce.
  3. Skewer and Season Shrimp: Thread approximately 4–5 shrimp per skewer. Brush the shrimp generously with the prepared garlic butter mixture. Then sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan evenly over both sides of the shrimp.
  4. Cook Shrimp – Grill Method: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F / 200°C). Place the shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink and develop slight charring.
  5. Cook Shrimp – Oven Broil Method: Alternatively, position the oven rack about 6 inches from the broiler and preheat the broiler on high. Place the skewers on a broiler-safe pan and broil for 2–3 minutes per side, watching carefully to avoid overcooking as shrimp cook quickly under the broiler.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once cooked, drizzle the shrimp with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle chopped parsley on top. Serve immediately with your choice of sides such as pasta, Caesar salad, garlic bread, or grilled vegetables.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the shrimp; they are done when opaque and form a C shape.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for better melting and browning compared to pre-shredded cheese.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly sprinkle panko breadcrumbs over the shrimp before broiling.
  • If using wooden skewers, soaking in water is essential to prevent burning.
