Description

Hot Caprese Dip with Roasted Tomatoes & Burrata is a warm and creamy Italian-inspired appetizer featuring sweet roasted cherry tomatoes, melted mozzarella, and soft burrata cheese. This scoopable dip is perfect for entertaining or cozy gatherings, offering classic Caprese flavors in a comforting, shareable form.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Roasted Tomatoes

  • 2 cups cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

For the Dip

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 ball burrata cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • Fresh basil leaves, torn

For Serving

  • Toasted bread slices
  • Crackers or flatbread

Instructions

  1. Roast the Tomatoes: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the cherry tomatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and dried Italian seasoning until evenly coated. Spread them out on a baking sheet in a single layer and roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the tomatoes are softened and lightly blistered.
  2. Prepare the Cheese Base: While the tomatoes are roasting, spread the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly in a small oven-safe baking dish. Sprinkle the finely minced garlic over the mozzarella to infuse flavor.
  3. Add Tomatoes: Once the tomatoes are roasted, spoon them and their flavorful juices evenly over the mozzarella cheese in the baking dish.
  4. Bake the Dip: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and slightly golden around the edges, about 5-8 minutes.
  5. Finish with Burrata: Remove the dip from the oven and gently tear the burrata cheese over the top. The heat from the dip will soften the burrata, adding a luscious texture.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle torn fresh basil leaves on top. Serve the dip warm alongside toasted bread slices, crackers, or flatbread for scooping.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe cherry or grape tomatoes for the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Ensure the baking dish is oven-safe to avoid accidents during baking.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes along with the Italian seasoning.
  • Serve immediately while warm for the best gooey, melty texture.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead by roasting tomatoes and assembling; then just bake before serving.
