Description

This Hot Honey Baked Chicken Breasts recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts coated in a sweet and spicy homemade honey sauce. The combination of smoked paprika, cayenne, and red pepper flakes creates a perfect balance of heat and sweetness, baked to perfection for a flavorful and easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 2 lbs. organic chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons On Everything All-Purpose Blend
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup organic raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prep + Season Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken breasts with extra virgin olive oil, On Everything All-Purpose Blend, smoked paprika (if using), and sea salt. Cut small slits on each breast to allow better marinade absorption. Optionally, marinate the chicken for enhanced flavor.
  2. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the raw honey, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, chili powder, and a pinch of sea salt. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until smooth and slightly thickened.
  3. Bake the Chicken: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. Place the seasoned chicken breasts on the baking sheet. Spoon a generous amount of the hot honey sauce over each piece, reserving some sauce for serving. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C).
  4. Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the remaining hot honey sauce over the breasts before serving. Pair with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

  • Cutting small slits into the chicken allows the marinade to penetrate deeper for more flavor.
  • Marinating the chicken breasts for 30 minutes to an hour can enhance flavor but is optional.
  • Adjust the cayenne and red pepper flakes to control the level of spiciness according to your preference.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • Leftover sauce can be stored in the refrigerator and gently warmed before serving.
