Scale
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil or olive oil
- 4–5 baby bok choy, halved lengthwise
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the oil: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame or olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the hot oil and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
- Add bok choy: Place the halved bok choy cut side down in the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes without stirring to allow a slight sear.
- Flip and cook: Turn the bok choy over and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the stems are tender but still crisp and the leaves are wilted.
- Season and finish: Drizzle the bok choy with 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce or tamari, toss to coat evenly, and add optional red pepper flakes and sesame seeds.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately as a side dish or over rice or noodles.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of rice vinegar or a squeeze of fresh lime juice before serving.
- You can substitute baby bok choy with larger bok choy by slicing it thinly.
