Description

These Roast Beef Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make party favorite featuring Hawaiian rolls stuffed with rare deli roast beef and Havarti cheese. Baked to perfection with a savory poppy seed butter glaze, they deliver melty cheese, tender beef, and flavorful bread in every bite. Perfect for game day, gatherings, or a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Slider Assembly

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 pound deli roast beef (ask for rare from deli)
  • 12 slices Havarti cheese (or use your favorite cheese)

Spread

  • â…“ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons horsey sauce (optional)

Butter Glaze

  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted but not hot)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (or sesame seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice Rolls: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the slab of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping all the rolls connected so they stay intact as a single piece.
  3. Make Spread: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and horsey sauce (if using) until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the cut surfaces of both the top and bottom halves of the rolls.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared pan. Layer with 6 slices of Havarti cheese first, then add the roast beef evenly on top, followed by the remaining 6 slices of cheese.
  5. Bake to Melt Cheese: Place the pan in the oven uncovered and bake for 10 minutes, just until the cheese starts to melt.
  6. Prepare Butter Glaze: While the sliders bake, whisk together the melted butter, dried minced onion, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, garlic powder, and kosher salt until well combined.
  7. Add Top Roll and Glaze: Remove the pan from the oven and place the top half of the rolls over the melted cheese and roast beef layer. Pour the butter glaze generously over the tops and sides of the rolls, brushing to coat evenly and allowing some glaze to pool in the pan.
  8. Bake Covered: Loosely cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  9. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  10. Serve: Remove from oven, cut into individual sliders, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve hot. These sliders are delicious served with pickles, fries, or a fresh side salad.

Notes

  • Horsey sauce is optional but adds a nice horseradish kick.
  • Using Hawaiian rolls provides a sweet and soft base, but you can substitute with any soft slider rolls.
  • If Havarti cheese isn’t available, mild cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella work well.
  • To keep sliders warm before serving, cover with foil and place in a warm oven (about 200°F) for up to 20 minutes.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the Hawaiian rolls with gluten-free slider buns.
  • Use fresh herbs like parsley for garnish to add a pop of color and freshness.
