Description

This delectable Seafood Lasagna combines succulent shrimp and delicate crab meat layered with rich ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses in a creamy Alfredo sauce. Perfectly baked to a golden bubbly finish with a crunchy breadcrumb topping, this dish brings Italian comfort with a luxurious seafood twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb crab meat

Cheese Mixture

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Other Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 4 cups Alfredo sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat and cook noodles: Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Sauté seafood: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add shrimp and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Add the crab meat and season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup shredded mozzarella, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, heavy cream, and chopped parsley. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble the lasagna: Spread a thin layer of Alfredo sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the cheese mixture over the noodles, then add one-third of the seafood mixture on top. Drizzle with Alfredo sauce. Repeat this layering process two more times, ending with noodles topped with Alfredo sauce.
  5. Add cheese topping and bake: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top layer. Add breadcrumbs for a crunchy texture. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Rest and serve: Allow the lasagna to sit for 10 minutes before serving to let it set. Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired for freshness and color.

Notes

  • Use fresh seafood for the best flavor and texture.
  • Cooking noodles al dente is crucial as they will continue cooking in the oven.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to taste for desired heat level.
  • Letting the lasagna rest before serving helps it hold its shape when sliced.
  • Breadcrumb topping adds a pleasant crunch; omit for a softer top layer.
